Get ready for our spectacular kite festival, Kites Over Lake Michigan, this Labor Day weekend. The event will be held on August 30th and 31st at beautiful Neshotah Beach, Two Rivers. The festival runs from 11am to 4pm both days. Additional activities include a night fly on Saturday August 30th and free kite making for kids on Sunday August 31st from 9am to 11am. The night fly will start at dusk, around 8pm and will end at around 10.30pm. Come and check out kites that are decorated with lights and they look awesome in the night sky. There will also be a bonfire on the beach that night.
In addition to some of the most incredible giant show kites and spectacular ground displays, there will be precision stunt kite flying in both dual and quad lines, Running of the Bols (always a crowd favorite), kite fighting demonstrations, candy and glider drops and lessons for stunt kite flying. There will be kites available for sale on the beach, as well as food, drinks, roasted corn and ice cream.
There will also be an indoor exhibition of some of the most unique kites, windsocks and banners at the Community House in beautiful downtown Two Rivers. The exhibit will be opened from 11am to 7pm on Saturday and 11am to 2pm on Sunday. We are expecting a crowd size of over 20,000 for the weekend, so come early and stake out your spot on the beach.
